Tasked to renovate a 30 years old laboratory classroom, the design utilizes simple materials and color palette in combination with open space layout to allow for future flexible learning and activities. The layout of each room is designed to fit its subject, from the physics lab (yellow) with open space for experiments, chemistry lab (blue) with large continuous workspaces, the biology lab (green) with counter top equipped and ready for dissection. The design utilizes a minimalistic design strategy: to build only what is required through simplistic forms. The four school colors (blue, yellow, red, and green) are used as a primary design element, filling the space with vibrancy as well as helping to differentiate each room. The bright colors are kept at the lower portion not to distract the learning environment. The design creates simple and functional space, ready for explorations.
