McDonald’s commissioned UXUS is to create an inspiring
children’s activity area for kids under 7 years of age, bringing the theme of
“what I eat, what I do” to life. The concept is to embody an inspiring, playful,
educational and entertaining area within McDonald’s restaurants no bigger than
20sqm in space. The project consists of a series of ‘cottages’ with simple
activities where children can initiate their own stories and games. Each
cottage represents a phase of the food journey, from farm, to market to
kitchen. Each phase allows children to partake in the scenario of the cottage
including a market clerk, chef in the kitchen and farmer at the farm. Designed
for children and adults to share learning through play, the visual
sophistication of the concept is both fun and educational while enhancing the
dining experience for all customers.
The pilot project is to be rolled out throughout Europe
in 2009.
