McCallum Sather Architects Inc. (MSA) has teamed up with VRM Engineering to design the state-of-the-art facility, McMaster Institute for Music and the Mind (MIMM). This addition to the Psychology Building at McMaster University consists of a "live lab" that is a one of a kind, unique facility. The addition includes a theatre, which hooks up the audience members and performers to sensory receptors in order to measure the brain’s reaction to the sounds and music being played.

The project also represents a unique collaboration between engineer and architect to provide timely, financially responsible, and constructible design solutions with tight timelines and complex scheduling. Together, the team has resolved complex functional and technical issues while building on top of an existing building structure.
