The McAdam residence features two intersecting gable forms grounded on a sloping site. The design balances habitation with a refined alpine aesthetic.
The Clients wanted a light filled home with a calm, pared back interior. Suitably designed around the owners’ love of the sun, the light filled interior of the McAdam Home includes a cosy window seat where they can bask in the sun and watch the world go by.
The master bedroom is a relaxing space that provides the owner with a retreat from the stresses of daily life. The selection of smoky coloured joinery and dark tiles in the adjoining bathroom helps create a soothing, atmospheric space that invites the owners to relax and block out the world. The high raking ceiling and full-height window behind the freestanding bath bring in natural light and glimpses of the alpine scenery.
Throughout, the home is complete with bespoke joinery. The juxtaposition of light and dark timbers plays on the sensory experience, and helps create a ski lodge-like retreat where the owners can relax and rejuvenate after a day in the mountains.
