The house. a two floor multifamily housing built in the late 1970’s. the intervention took place on the ground floor, defined by small, crowded areas and a neglected view over the Ria Formosa.
The clients. a young couple who wanted a versatile house, that fulfilled the needs of contemporary daily life and established continuity relations among the living spaces, in opposite with the private ones, intended to look different and be autonomous.
The strategy. total reorganization of spaces, in rupture with the existed ones, through a device functioning as the structuring element of the house. this device assures the transition of the living and the private spaces and defines the surrounding areas by integrating and complementing the different needs (kitchen counter, bookcase, shelves).
