Renovations and extensions to a high end home. Clerestory windows were engaged to provide daylight deep into the reconfigured open kitchen, living and dining area. A deck is raised nearly 2 metres above ground to create a continuous indoor outdoor flow. A substantial 1m X 9m metre planterbox was designed across the rear of the property to allow for large vegetation to soften the view out to the raised deck. Ensuites were added to each of three bedrooms. Below the living area, the basement was reconfigured to include a second living area, powder room, wine cellar and new laundry. The street frontage was given a new front fence, paving, render, new paint scheme, new bullnose verandas, fretwork, finials and verandah brackets to lend a bit of detail and visual interest in order to improve the residence’s street presence. This project commenced construction less than four months after our first concept plan (including gaining planning permission!).
CMD was responsible for the space planning/revised layouts, architecture (including street frontage improvements) and landscape design. Furniture selection and kitchen design was a collaboration between the client and an interior designer.
