Marlow is a multifamily development, one of the first that came after the recent recession that virtually shut down all new residential projects in San Francisco. It sits at the corner of Van Ness Avenue & Clay Streets, in a transitional neighborhood whose proximity to Nob Hill gives it some panache. The project reinforces the urban fabric while bringing a contemporary, dynamic architectural vision to the site. The project encloses a large common courtyard fostering communal activities and gathering within the building. The neighborhood serves an economically diverse community with the project maintaining the diversity by providing 15% of the homes as subsidized inclusionary housing. These 15 units are part of the City and County of San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development’s Below Market Rate Ownership Program to provide affordable housing options for lower or middle income households.
