Located in Paju Book City, the
building is 'Bookshelf Type', where the area contains various publishing
houses, and buildings, restricted to four stories, appear as volumes, or books,
along the shelf or street.
The design for Borim Publishing, a children's illustrative book company,
is a creative space for the writers and illustrators working in the office
building, and an interactive cultural place for children in the adjacent
Marionette Theater. The skin of the office building consists of double layered
glass and perforated metal panels, perpendicularly joined to the Marionette Theater
at an interior bamboo garden. The Marionette Theater exterior was generated on
movement and fluctuating gravity. The undulating metal panels embedded in the
flat glass surface and invisible from the exterior, give the subject, chiefly
one at child's height, a sense that the theater is lifted from the floor, in
tandem with the dance of the puppets on stage.
