When Mariner Investment Group, a leading alternative investment management firm, began exploring new workplace opportunities in New York City, its goal was to create a space that would elevate the client experience. Following a comprehensive market survey and a series of programming and test fits led by BR Design Associates, the firm selected 299 Park Avenue—a premier location overlooking the new Chase Bank building. The full-floor tenancy offered both operational efficiency and a prestigious address, with building owner Fisher Brothers delivering a high-quality base installation that aligned perfectly with Mariner’s desire for an impressive, amenity-rich workplace.
Having partnered with Mariner for several years on the design of their previous offices within the same building, BR Design Associates was deeply familiar with the firm’s culture, operations, and aesthetic values. This long-standing collaboration laid the foundation for a design that reflected Mariner’s growth and refined brand presence with a touch of warmth and hospitality. The new office embraces a neutral palette and thoughtfully layered materials, while achieving a sophisticated yet understated look.
The design concept drew subtle inspiration from Mariner’s name and evokes nautical imagery without direct imitation. Sustainable woods and veneers were specified, and local vendors were engaged for the furniture and accessories. Along the Park Avenue-facing perimeter, BR Design Associates positioned the executive offices and primary conference rooms to give clients sweeping north- and south-facing views that capture the dynamism of Midtown Manhattan. Transparency was a key principle: extensive use of glass along the perimeter maintains daylight and visual connection across the floor to reinforce both openness and prestige.
Supporting spaces were equally considered. A custom-designed catering pantry adjacent to the conference areas enhances Mariner’s ability to host clients with ease. The workplace itself balances private and open areas, with expansive trading floors surrounded by perimeter huddle and conference rooms to encourage collaboration. Additional amenities include a staff pantry for casual dining and a dedicated video studio.
The result is a workplace that captures Mariner Investment Group’s ethos. Through a thoughtful integration of architecture, materials, and brand expression, BR Design Associates has delivered a space that feels both elevated and grounded, a sophisticated New York headquarters that reflects the firm’s legacy.
