Maple Valley Library

21844, Southeast 248th Street, Maple Valley, WA, United States

YEAR
2000
SIZE
10,000 sqft - 25,000 sqft
The library occupies a wooded site in the Maple
Valley community near the foothills of the Cascades. This library was
designed to live with its surroundings rather than replace a wonderful
environment. The parking lot winds around the largely preserved forest
offering glimpses of the building beyond. Large vine maples frame the
entry to the library. Once inside, tall corner windows and high
clerestories continue the presence of the forest. Natural materials
that make up the structure of the building are revealed inside and out,
providing a rich tapestry within the library and
a fitting counterpoint to the natural
environment outside.
