“Agile Working”. The luxury of freedom.
Today technology has enabled us to be able to work anytime and anywhere. The performance is no longer determined by the time you stay in the office but by the results.
The trend is that increasingly there are fewer individual cubicles and more often we see that companies favor open spaces that allow greater interaction and creativity. Their goal: to have more efficient workers, who spend fewer hours at work and have a better quality of life.Inspired by this, we created a space for a marketing firm seeking to take their workers to the next level. On a site located in one of the most important avenues of Mexico City but abandoned for years, we materialized the new, century 21 labor spirit.
Our mission was to provide the employees a space alternative where work and pleasure could live side by side. It had to be a place where they could get together among themselves or with clients, and be able to continue working while enjoying something nice like lunch, coffee or listening to music.
Light and Vegetation
To provide this, we decided to open the front and the back of the site in order to get advantage of cross ventilation and natural light to the full, this way we achieved significant energy savings. Thus we gained a front window for the street view and in the back we converted a residual space into a terrace. To protect construction from the
surrounding environment and have privacy, we used vegetation, same that functioned as a visual gain from inside. It also worked very well as sun block and noise protection, giving an ideal space to work even outdoors.
Wood spaces
Inside we created three space volumes with timber, each to offer holding closed doors meetings, this way different surroundings were created for working and living together.
Polished concrete floors, white walls and ceilings dispensed to free up existing facilities leaving the slab apparent with a dark gray gave the result of getting the feel of a much larger space. It also used a series of luminary pendants creating the background to provide space and emphasize the depth of the upper slab.
The furniture was designed especially for the project using the same materials and finish tones as those proposed for the premises. This gives flexibility to the users, since they can choose the working position: standing or sitting at different heights, as you would in a bar, at a desk or in the living room of a house.
