The Manly II Residence is located just metres from the iconic Manly Beach in Sydney.
Sydney builder Horizon worked with architects PopovBass to build this highly complex new home.
Design features include mirrored skylights and huge glass panels to take advantage of sweeping ocean views. Safely installing this glass required the implementation of a specialised system – a small crane was craned into the home from the street.
Spread over three levels, the home boasts large open plan areas, skylights to draw light into living spaces, a suspended pool and custom joinery throughout.
The striking curved, cantilevered, off-form concrete façade demanded the utmost accuracy on the first attempt. Horizon prototyped the concrete to ensure the highest quality of the finished product.
The home’s first floor is supported on columns, with no walls on East, South or Western elevations.
The project required extremely strong collaboration and communication with both the architect and builder throughout.
