You wouldn’t believe what this place looked like before we got our hands on it!
Better suited for a two-lane bowling alley, this 16’ wide by 65’ long, basement-level space was converted from a telephone dispatching station to a modern, uplifting Dermatologist’s office equipped with 4 Exam Rooms, 2 small Offices, a Receptionist and Waiting Room, 2 Restrooms, a Kitchenette and small Lab space.
Despite the odd proportions and loaded programmatic requirements, the real challenge was to negotiate the myriad of pipes and drains dropping into the space, while at the same time carving out a light, inspiring office for the young Physician. Working closely with the Doctor, Building Management and various Contractors, Daedalus Workshop provided a full line of Architectural Services from planning the overall layout, selecting lighting and finishes, to detailing cabinetry and on-site assistance during the build-out.
Far from being a traditional, un-inspired practice, the Dermatologist wanted a vibrant, modern and tranquil office that didn’t feel cold and institutional. He’s told us his patients feel welcome and comfortable, and that he likes to call the office his ‘second home’. Now that’s something we could believe!
