MANHARLEM
The project is at the end of the 125th a.k.a. the Martin Luther King Street, the main axis of Harlem in New York City. This street breaks apart from the Manhattan’s grid creating an irregular shape site. The project is a perimeter block that create a courtyard. After adapting to the site, two sides of the building are lifted up. The one that are parallel to the Manahattan’s grid are pulled up respecting the pre-existing orientation while the lower one are rotated on the same angle of the 125Th Street to continue the flow at the ground level. In this way two different buildings are created in a single one. The lower creates the plaza and has a relation with the street and the other rise up becoming the higher luxury hotel with the view on the city and spectacular sky garden.
