The Mandeville Canyon Residence is a major remodel of a 1950's vernacular single family home typical of the Los Angeles Area. The design seeks to bring new life into the old home by opening up the interior layout and creating more light-filled and less segmented spaces. There is a cozy backyard that was neglected and the design rehabs that forgotten yard space and then provides ample openings and views out to create a home with spaces that feel spacious due to the exterior feeling like an extension of the interior. The project creates a more flexible home that no longer feels constricted but uplifts with grander spaces that are washed in daylight and that feel better connected with the surrounding site.
