Mam is an ingredient of no stranger to locals - a heavenly concoction of sweet, salty and spicy flavors that embodies the soulfulness and eternal love Vietnamese cuisine has to offer. All coastal areas interpret the taste of Mam differently, and designers adopted these varying tastes as inspirations to conceptualize the design elements for the precinct's individual spaces.
The story of Vietnam life is narrated through spatial interactions and thematic underlying tones, from the entrance into the dining area. The theme of spiciness, symbolising the arduous lifestyle of fishing villages, is expressed as early as the first step through the entrance. A small, narrow and long layout plan follows with curated furniture arranged carefully in accordance to the prevalent ground floor theme.
Adhering to the designers' three-pronged motif, the 2nd floor portrays saltiness - a testament to the taste of labour sweat shed while producing the specialty sauce. Beige and brown were among the richly organic color palettes incorporated into the interior space, allowing the walls to exude an air of earthiness that ties in well with the natural heritage of the village. Resembling salt crystals, the "sparkling diamonds" lighting adorns the capacious dining area, adding sophisticated gloss over a meticulous layout.
The adage "the cream rises to the top" was implemented to profound effect when designers took the preceding two themes and transform the top floors into a culminating masterpiece of exuberant sweetness. The warmth of love and joy is exemplified in this family gathering area after a hard day's work with the inclusion of a small, indoor garden predicated on the style of old Vietnamese houses. The décor is furnished with immense flexibility, giving the illusion of a private room encapsulated within a restaurant. With distinct juxtaposing features, the unique fragrance of Mam is personified into reality.
