Our proposal for a large circular court within the Mall of Russia shopping centre is to create a stunning centre piece with three dimensional light shapes and movement derived from the biological forms created by cellular automaton processing. A cellular automaton is a discrete model studied in mathematics, physics, theoretical biology and microstructure modelling. The 32 meters long piece will be suspended from the main roof structure. It consists of clear strands each fitted with a number of mirrored cylinder shapes that acts as light pixels. This creates what is thought to be the biggest true 3D light display in the world at this moment.
