The restaurant is located on the bank of Volga river in an 18th century historic villa with well-preserved original plasterwork and classic proportions. The goal was to fuse a forefront and daring concept with grand historical appearance of the building. Another objective was to create a multi functional space that could operate as a whole as well as separate functions, hosting private parties of various size.
The interior and name of the restaurant was inspired by the works of the avant-garde painter Kazimir Malewicz. The central feature of design concept is the floating black solid steel stairway which is even featured in the restaurants logo and is inspired by the shapes and dynamic of his paintings. This statement piece hangs in yhe air with only 3 points of support.
The color scheme is based on various shades of grey with accents of deep navy, black, green. In an intriguing twist, this color scheme is used as patch work painting over original plasterwork and walls and ceiling, creating a shifted shadow effect. Adding to the sophistication is the use of various marbles, rich velvets, mirrored, brass and copper surfaces. Although the layout of this historic building predetermined the layout of the restaurant, designers were able to play with the space to create a flow, from the grand entrance hall with the host reception and walk in closet through which guests can take the hidden route into one of the vip rooms, you enter the first of the there bars in the space. With exposed brick walls, a wall to wall brass and polisander wood bar, the room is centered around a large custom designed drift wood table. On a closer look one can notice that wall crown detail, bar counter and a huge portal into the grand dining room are decorated with classic granulated shot glasses, each of which is individually lit with LED and linked to music control.
