Makowski Groń is a residence sculpted by the dramatic mountain landscape. A strong, geometric form cuts into the slope, anchoring the house firmly to the terrain and creating a powerful architectural silhouette. Designed as an interplay of mass, light, and topography, the project embraces the raw energy of its surroundings while offering calm, sheltered spaces within.
The architecture is built from elemental materials — concrete, stone, and timber — chosen for both their honesty and their ability to withstand the mountain climate. Large openings frame peaks and valleys, drawing the landscape into the interior, while deep overhangs and carved terraces protect the living spaces from harsh weather and create intimate exterior rooms.
Inside, the sequence of spaces follows the natural descent of the site. Each level offers a new perspective: long axial views, framed compositions, and quiet refuges embedded in the hillside. The house is both grounded and elevated — rooted in the mountain yet open to its vastness.
Makowski Groń is not a house placed in the mountains.
It is a house shaped by the mountains.
