The special characteristic of this two-level townhouse is its configuration: it is essentially a long, narrow volume (15x3 meters). To free up the tall space, the attic floor and the existing partitions were torn out. The single volume thus created is modulated and articulated by the installation of a mezzanine in the center. Precisely crafted paneling and openwork partitions made of solid oak blade-like elements create visual filters that subtly delimit different spaces and uses within the same volume (kitchen, mezzanine, living room). By a strategic feat of optimization, a maximum number of functional items are integrated in a single custom-made furniture piece; mezzanine access stair, refrigerator, storage nooks, cupboards, and drawers.
