Oriented on an east / west axis, large windows and glazed connecting gallery spaces of Maison Studio House open to majestic views of the surrounding maple forest and day and night skies, allowing the building interior and the home owner’s to live harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Inspired by and the natural surroundings, Maison Studio House boasts an exposed rough sawn timber main entrance canopy and roof braces and exposed vintage heavy timber framing in the gallery portion of the building, as is finished in a dark semi-transparent stain to contrast the white gallery walls throughout the house. Inspired by the palette of colours and materials from the site, the exterior of the building showcases a contemporary rustic style and incorporates rich earthy tones in the cladding and finish materials as complement the natural surroundings and root Maison Studio House into the landscape.
