We have inherited an abandonned courtyard, a forgotten courtyard at the end of a corridor. A non-place. We had to invent a program that would revive and reveal it. We believe architecture can also be used in this manner.
A rich theme. The installation of a city house to accomodate serviced apartments.
The courtyard grew vertically and deeply, beyond the established form, we made a choice of generic materiality.
Seeing from all sides, the cooper roof became the main facade, and it kind of spread to dress the whole into geometric abstraction.
The pursued goal was to demonstrate, that even in a historical and almost frozen environment, it remains possible to propose a contemporary definition of the space and of its representation.
By reviving the link that once existed with the street, we now belong to the continuity: the one of the city that builds itself, again and again.
