With a brand reference inspired by the Mediterranean, the project reinforces this identity through materialities, textures, and connections. Located on Blumenau's most charming street, the project seeks to involve the user through relationships with the space in which it is inserted.
The project's scenario takes place in an old commercial building of strong representation in the city. One of the project's main objectives was to revitalize the space in a subtle way that could bring to the restaurant a genuine relationship with the street and the other buildings that surround it. To achieve this desire, the same finishings and textures were adopted on the inside and outside, arousing the interest of passers-by and inserting the restaurant into the urban scenery. In addition, the project's premise was to take advantage of cross-ventilation, strategically caused by the openings proposed through the mezzanine.
The restaurant is composed of three levels, two of which are for serving the public. The service area is located in the basement. On the first floor, there is the access to the restaurant and, in the back, the composition between the bar and the kitchen, creating a deep setting. One of the project's outstanding elements is the composition between the mezzanine staircase and the wine cellar. An existing element that was covered in wood, the staircase receives the wine cellar that has as access an old revitalized safe door, an old piece already existing in the building and one of the main highlights right at the entrance of the restaurant.
All the vertical faces of the environment received the application of santa fé plaster, of irregular aspect, which is the base element of the project. Organic openings in the walls provide a light, characteristic, and fun composition. The floor received as main coating the natural stone São Tomé, which in addition to providing durability, responds well to the proposed concept and also correlates the indoor and outdoor environment. Wood, sisal ropes, and plants complete the decoration of the space, creating different scenarios within the same project, providing contrast, but at the same time harmony between elements. The use of natural and sober materials provided to bring to the contemporary architectural elements and details that deliver the Mediterranean theme.
Another highlight of the project is the bar, which strategically has the function of camouflaging the kitchen and being the visual highlight for those passing on the street. In its projection, the ceiling was lowered in wooden slats, creating a sense of welcome and connection with the other elements.
On the mezzanine, the highlight is the rattan-covered slab lining that, together with the indirect lighting of the benches, frames the outdoor vegetation and creates a scene full of bossa. The rooftop space is surrounded by benches with cushions and tropical plants, filling the area, bringing lightness and warmth to the environment. The proposed vegetation helps to control thermal comfort and provides nuances of light and shade, as well as assisting in the acoustics of the space, since the space is surrounded by some residential buildings.
