Mail-Order Chapel
The Mail-Order Chapel (M.O.C.) is a complete ready-made building system constructed from off-the-shelf cardboard mailing boxes and is 100% recyclable. Two overlapping cylinders create the overall form of a M.O.C., symbolically representing the same sex marriage union.
M.O.C. is made by folding the mailing boxes into “i-beam” structural components acting as both brick & mortar. A fully assembled M.O.C. contains 1,400 boxes or 352 “i-beam” components. The only additional structural element in a M.O.C. is a custom tension ring at the top of the two cylinders. Each same sex couple married in the M.O.C. is visually represented in the recognizable iconic interlocking circles floating overhead bonding the tension ring.
The $3000 construction budget in combination with the M.O.C. system creates a bonus gift for this historical occasion. Two complete M.O.C.‘s can be delivered to Columbus Circle on July 30, 2011 for the requested amount. The two M.O.C.’s increase the efficiency of both pre & post marriage ceremony events. ( i.e. one M.O.C. for ceremonies & one M.O.C. for photographers, etc. )
NOTE :
The Mail-Order Chapel is a prototype model for similar events worldwide.
Any country, city or backyard is a welcome site for a M.O.C.
