Maharam / D&D Building, NYCIn the Decorator and Design Building located on the upper East Side of Manhattan, a showroom for a fabric company offers a new approach to displaying and viewing fabrics. An L-shaped space divided into a public and private zones, is spatially unified by a continuous band of windows, a concrete ceiling and new seamless synthetic resin flooring. Large steel tables hold wood trays containing a rotating collection of fabrics. Unlike conventional display racks, here the user is encouraged to interact with the product samples. A perimeter counter along the windows give the visitor a place to sit and work. The office area is furnished with custom wood cabinets combined with corian topped desks.photos by Dean Kaufman
