Set in the Magnolia
neighborhood of Seattle, this house rests on a hillside overlooking the entire
city and Puget Sound. We added a
second story over the garage, consisting of two bedrooms, bathroom and the main
focal element, a cantilevered stair tower to the roof. The entire roof is a combination of
deck surface and a ‘living’ green roof system. For this application we
used a pre-grown modular system by LiveRoof out of British Columbia www.liveroof.com. These modules came with completely grown sedums (by N.A.T.S.
