Magnet Tower is a residential project with commercial areas, enriched by social spaces on the top, in a developing housing region of Ankara. The main aim of the project is creating an experimental tower impacting the memory of the region and its silhouette. In the light of the aim “magnet metaphor” is utilized in both analogical and contextual terms. Being a basic and easily percieved form, the analogy of the tower has an inviting posture in order to be a center of attraction in the region. On the other hand, the project has a contextual relation with its metaphor. Similar to how a real magnet pulls objects, the vertical standing magnet building has also south and north poles pulling the public. Commercial and social spaces as restaurants, shops and entertainment amenities located on the ground and mezzazine floors are the center of attractions. Till the 30th floor, two seperate towers are designed as residence spaces. Above residential areas there are two storeys including swimming pool, fitness center, social clubs, sky lounge and a library. A sky garden is located at the top, on the 33rd floor. The tower is also the wellcoming gate of the green backside garden settled on the extremely sloped site. The building facade is designed with a dynamic character referring to magnetism.
