This project was conceived under a construction remodel of a 35 year old building. The company needed more working space and a modern way of office interaction, so we went into the task of analyzing the work process of all the company and from that we developed the Architectural program that proposes spaces that enhanced teamwork, communication and a better working environment above all. The project was constructed in two facets, following the problem that the company could not stop activities and neither move to another building while the remodel, we divided the building in half, creating a secure access to the back of the building where normal but crowded activities continued though the first 6 months of construction, when finished the front part, people moved to the new area and then proceeded construction work in the other half.
A new vertical structure was carefully inserted from bottom to top, allowing us to demolish the interior walls in order to create open spaces, which afterwards where divided by glass partitions and work modules. A contemporary industrial mood was proposed as an interior design, where installations are exposed not only for easier future accommodations but also to avoid interference with old ones.
The Double Layered façade of this building proposes a new way of interaction between interior and exterior, allowing natural south light to enter but not allowing heat transfer, as the façade is conceived with an interior operable glazed layer and an outer louver type façade formed with aluminum frames that stretch a see-through Serge Ferrari fabric which is slightly tilted to the east where the sun predominates during the year, in between this two layers there is small space that allows ventilation that reduces heat transfer and also works as an outside walkway. Another feature of the façade is an elevated two-sided green wall that welcomes the visitor into the building.
