Sited on an island and strung up like
a Kayagum (a traditional Korean string instrument,) the Magic Lantern
Opera House interweaves all functional elements in precarious-yet-sound
structural balance.
Tension wires hold up the
penta-leaf Bloom Theater which can be sectioned off to five venues of
ideal acoustics or opened into a theater-in-the-round for maximum
flexibility. Live events can be projected off these chords
holographically to the mainland enticing ever more visitors. The main
body contains a finely tuned performance arts center within and an
exhilarating amphitheater on top- sharing the fly tower, shops and
other support spaces between them.
At night, like a Magic
Lantern over the sea, the glowing theater will beckon those in cars,
boats and land to celebrate the arts as it shimmers over the waters.
