Transient, decomposable, modular : these are the adjectives that best describe this project.
The cube – the main concept of the project – gives a feeling of steadiness and simplicity with its solid structure that, however, may be broken down into many units that we can rearrange in various different ways.
This project aims to create a space that works as a dock and relax area at the Biennale gardens in Venice.
It consists of eight cubes, each one of has a different functions – one can work as a cafe, another on ad recreation area, restrooms, dock for ferries, playground for kids, etc.
Movable sails guarantee protection from the sun during hot and sunny days and a metallic structural frame, which bestows solidity to the cube, is externally coated in teak wood.
Under the wooden coating there’s room enough for wiring, plumbing system and A/C or heating systems.
The cube safely floats thanks to floating devices attached on the lower face of the cube, preventing it from touching the water directly while the other sides present removable flotation devices.
