Das neue MAFINEX Technologiezentrum ist für die Mannheimer Wirtschaftsförderung einer der wichtigsten Bausteine der Innovationsförderung, um den Transfer von Forschung und Entwicklung zu Produkten und Dienstleistungen zu fördern.
Eingebettet in den Masterplan Mannheim 21 hat das Technologiezentrum seinen neuen Standort zwischen Universität und Hochschule Mannheim.
Die Baukörper grenzen Hofbereiche und offene Freianlagen mit Bäumen und Plätzen ab. So ist das vitale Gewebe eines Campus, welches die Kommunikation der Existenzgründer fördert, entstanden.
Die Grundbehaglichkeit wird über eine Betonkerntemperierung der massiven Decken Sommers wie Winters hergestellt.
Eine Klimafassade ergänzt das zukunftorientierte Technikkonzept.
Auf den Dachflächen ist die Aufstellung einer Photovoltaik-Anlage realisiert, welche eine Kapazität von 53 kWp erreicht.
Business Promotion Centre Mannheim
Situated between Mannheim University and the University of Applied Sciences the MAFINEX business promotion centre plays a key role in the urban development of Mannheim 21, a master-plan designed to convert former industrial areas south of Mannheim main station and adjacent rail tracks.
The new building provides a network of flexible office space for young start-ups. The full height atrium is an active buffer zone and a vital part of the energy concept of the building. Heating and cooling is gained by thermo-active solid concrete floor-slabs, natural ventilation by a double glazed façade with integrated blinds for summer heat control and solar gains in winter. The facades are designed to allow maximum daylight penetration, while the aluminium blinds add a shifting textural layer to the rhythm of the various coloured panels of enamelled glass. The roofs are covered with photovoltaic cells to convert sun energy into electric power. The building draws on district heating from the city. In this way energy is conserved wherever possible and the use of active systems is minimized.
