Located in La Quinta, California on a serene golf course minutes away from the Coachella festival grounds, this private community is a vacation retreat. The client prompt called for a commercial and private front elevation with a wide open back elevation, 15 foot high ceilings throughout the entire house, and a minimal, art gallery feel. The front gate opens up into a 2,000 square foot courtyard with a reflecting pond and sculptural elements. The 8,857 SF U-shaped home is divided into public and private wings, focused on the courtyard. Hidden pivot doors, located along a long wooden hallway wall lead to secondary bedrooms- artwork and up lighting help guests pinpoint their bedroom doors. The public spaces of the home are open and vast, with views into the courtyard and out to the Palm Springs Mountains from every room. Pocketing sliders allow the house to open completely, creating a large entertaining space, blurring the lines between interior and exterior.
