‘Madi Paidi’ is old saying in Thai when they want to say ‘Bon voyage’ to the
parting friends or loved ones. The exact word to word translation would be ‘Good luck for both arriving and departing’. The phrase is also the alternate name of the local road the project situated in. The designer interprets this as the essence of the hotel which is basically a home away from home. The Autograph collection’s core value is also to emphasize on the locality.
The designer explores the interplay of the greeting/goodbye in duality of the project. This express in the corridor to the guest room which has 2 personality depends on the direction of traveling. The common area also carries the same dual aspect as the area is divided between lobby and the restaurant with the warm and homey vibe in contrast to the dark and mysterious tone of the restaurant on the other side.
Architectural façade also emphasizes on the two personalities of the project by introducing out skin as timber screen which filters out the unwanted immediate view of the dense urban settings while adding warm touch and soften the harsh direct sunlight to the guest room. The green planter while helps contrasting the sleek façade can also add to the warm touch of the building.
