Traces in time, left out of the process of emptying out a space, are worthy of being remembered and respected.
Traces exist in interior spaces, as well as they do in outside in cities and buildings.
Commercial spaces, especially, tend to embrace the traces as they transform through time.
This project reinterprets the traces in time and adapts them into the new space
madame : luxury, steel, gold, modern
mija : vintage, neon sign, chandelier, fabric, green, yellow, red
The keyword 'madame' constructs the frame of the space, and another, 'mija,' fills up that frame.
This project consists of three unique spaces.
First, main hall with a chandelier as the centerpiece.
The space recalls ancient European piazza with iconic buildings, full of activities.
The seats are located around the centerpiece and the island type golden table/bench promotes the various interaction of the space.
Second, corridor that contains trace of time.
The seats are arranged between the existing columns and walls of the old traces.
Third, space within the space, created by floor, wall and ceiling.
The space within the space colored in turquoise takes a portion away from the main space and spreads it to communicate with other spaces, thus revitalizing other spaces.
Ambient and colorful lighting is performed by the reflection of light from the chandelier on to the gold metal surface below.
The movable island-type table/bench make efficient use of the space.
The elegance of chandeliers and the roughness of wall surface create mixed/diverse ambiance.
Various lighting effects, applied to different materials, emphasizes the unique characteristic of different materials in the space.
