Macdonald–Cartier Airport is part of Canada’s busiest air corridor between Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. In this second phase of the airport’s expansion, a heavy timber structure was introduced which was reclaimed from a demolished WWII aircraft hangar previously on the airport property.
The wood structure complements the existing 1960’s modernist building palette and connects the building to Ottawa’s logging heritage and the airport’s history. This solution provides elegance, warmth, and the linkage necessary to create something wonderful and unique for our Nation’s capital.
