The Macallen Building Condominiums is the catalyst for urban revitalization in South Boston. It is New England's first green residential high-rise, as well as the first LEED Gold Certified residential building in Boston.
The 11-story tiered structure features 140 condominiums, from studios to three-bedrooms with duplex and triplex options. Sustainable strategies included use of recycled and rapidly renewing materials, a green roof, prominent natural light, and heavily insulated energy-efficient windows and walls. 75% of construction debris was recycled, diverting it from landfills.
Each unit has fresh air ducted independently, significantly improving indoor air quality, and a sloped green roof aids in energy conservation.
Amenities include a three-story parking lot, exercise facility, swimming pool, hybrid community car, film room, access to public transportation, recreational facilities and vendors.
