This industrial building is administered since 2001 by Maakhaven, a group of artists, architects, designers and creative entrepreneurs.
The complex was build in 1929 en should have been demolished by january 2014. This threat has been prevented because Maakhaven together with local political parties put up a proposal for the city council. Maakhaven also commissioned MIXD to make a design for the future use of this building.
