MA house is located in the northern suburbs of Athens.
The project is composed of two overlapping volumes with different functions and was designed to be harmonious and functional, placed carefully, favoring the solar orientation, natural lighting and ventilation, taking advantage of the area’s climate context.
The ground floor is designed as the base, which supports a white rectangular prism that rests on top of it.
The base is shaped through thick walls covered by local stone and houses the more social areas; the foyer, the living room, the dining area, and the kitchen, which are all in direct contact with the garden and pool area.
The large openings on either side of the living space contribute in dissolving the boundaries between the room and the two gardens that surround it.
The upper volume, that houses the bedrooms, projects out of the ground floor on both sides. On the west side, the cantilevers shelter the main entrance, and on the east side, it creates a transitional shaded space that acts as an extension of the living room.
The master suite, three more bedrooms with bathrooms and an open space gym comprise the first floor.
All the spaces of the upper level extend to a balcony overlooking the pool.
