M-Apartments is a joint project between PXParchitecture & Partners and DGTA David Garda Taller de Arquitectura.
M-Apartamentos, five story condominium that takes advantage of the site stipe slope topographic condition, enjoying an exceptional panoramic view of the city framed by the hills. The view from the access street is limited to two floors accomplishing to minimize visual impact, placing the building harmoniously in a residential environment dominated by single family housing.
The parking small plaza is complemented by parking mezzanine for visitors with direct access from the street. The elevator is contained inside a glass column that enhance the frank and transparent character of M-Apartamentos. The frontal stairs are immediately visible from the entrance and their natural wood sun shade offer a warm integration with the environment where the conifers. The entrance is enhanced by the opposite vertex configuration, at times in steel, at times in wood, at times in masonry.
The building is 5 stories high (3 under the entrance level form the street), while the building hides under the parking plaza, leaving the utility rooms conveniently separated from the building.
M-Apartamentos consists of 5 apartments, one per story, and is “free” on the site and that is how it accomplishes the condition of freedom at a level of architectural expression and natural illumination and ventilation.
In order to preserve neighbor’s privacy hades were used in the lateral facades oriented to the nor-west facing towards the Ermita valley, accomplishing maximum aperture.
The habitational solution is of open spaces and grate heights, in part as a consequence of these requirements is that it was chosen to use a steel structure that allows distributive flexibility and maximize useful surface.
The building is completed in 2014 with a covered area of approximately 1,500 m².
