Lyngbygaard Golf Center
The new clubhouse for Lyngbygaard Golf Centre relates in its overall architectural idiom to the other buildings in the nearby area. The clubhouse is the focal point and heart of the area. That includes both the club members and the guests, which all meet here before and after a round of golf.
The building absorbs the natural terrain in a base made of boulders. Together with the two existing fieldstone buildings it forms a trinity around the centrally located grove. In other words the new clubhouse of Lyngbygaard Golf Center deliberately relates to its surroundings.
The building itself is a horizontal building that in its idiom reinterprets the traditional Danish farm with its horizontal buildings. The horizontality is marked in the façade with horizontal slats and large windows, which provide an unobstructed view of the greens and the village.
As a compositional fixture in the horizontal building, we have placed a significant chimney, which in the interior allows for an open, atmospheric fireplace - a natural center for the many social activities in the clubhouse.
