Designing the interior involves reaching a consensus with the building envelope. Every spatial decision is conditioned by a system of factors: the given access points, the façade treatments that allow light and ventilation to enter at specific points, and the established positions for sanitary installations; to name a few of the elements that condition what is configured inside.
Our intervention goes beyond the selection of materials and interior design to propose an architecture that is encapsulated. The scheme questions a central component of the program—a bedroom—and breaks it down, eliminating its spatial boundaries, reducing it to a service that takes the form of a rectangular prism while supporting a steel profile that holds cantilevered marble slabs. This nuclear volume deliberately interrupts the rigidity and orthogonality imposed by the envelope. Space takes on a transformable condition, assuming flexibility and exposure in the present, to be redefined in the future.
The form is constructed from a synthesis of materials and textures that generate a contemporary atmosphere of purity and luminosity. The stone subtly configures a spatial reading of spaciousness and continuity in the common areas, while the wood, in light tones, adds texture and warmth through weaves that evoke a fabric, generating depth and dynamism in the surfaces.
Flexibility is key: movable panels in the kitchen can transform the layout according to the desired level of privacy or integration. The living room is visually connected to the adjoining room, which expands the perception of space and enhances its everyday versatility. These features come together to create a contemporary and adaptable apartment where pure geometry meets unconventional spatial arrangement. Materiality, texture, light and geometry interact to create a serene atmosphere.
