Clients interested in a sea change approached the practice to design cabins (and a house) to be run as catered accommodation on weekends . The site was located on an exposed hill overlooking rolling hills and distant sea views. The iconic roof form of the cabins has served as a basis for marketing. In the high wind environment each cabin looks ready to take flight. Windows wrap around cabin to capture the dramatic panorama, with motorised blinds offering shade and privacy when required. Each cabin opens to a private, north facing courtyard. This offers shelter and allows passive thermal heating. An economical pallet of materials has been used with colour and form used to give character to the units.
