The implementation of the dwelling is based on its positioning in relation to the path of the sun, prioritizing control over the ingress of light to the site. Due to the high temperatures in Paraguay, the designed environment must consider the thermal comfort of the dwelling.
Along a horizontal axis, the volumetry of the house is arranged over two levels. The ground floor contains the social spaces and the master bedroom, including a kitchen, living room, and dining room. The circulation core serves as a transition between the social and private areas. The second floor is dedicated to the children and features three bedrooms and two bathrooms. This facade ensures visual protection while allowing the entry of natural light and ventilation.
The main challenge of the project was to find a relevant solution to the local climatic conditions. Using locally abundant materials, ceramic panels are generated in the upper volume, filtering light and allowing for constant natural ventilation. The lower level features a double-height social area to achieve greater airflow and glass enclosures that blur the boundaries between exterior and interior.
The Lumina Project is an innovative architectural proposal that incorporates artisanal ceramic filters to optimize lighting and natural ventilation in a dwelling. These carefully handcrafted panels are strategically placed on the facades, acting as solar shields that filter direct sunlight. This achieves efficient control of interior lighting, creating welcoming environments and reducing the need for artificial lighting.
In addition to their function as light filters, these ceramic panels allow fresh air and natural ventilation to enter the dwelling. Their porous design facilitates air circulation, creating currents that cool the interior spaces and enhance thermal comfort.
The dwelling not only aims to optimize the use of natural light and ventilation but also stands out for its artisanal aesthetics. Each ceramic panel is unique, created by hand with dedication and skill, adding a touch of beauty and personality to the facade.
The inhabitants of the dwelling now enjoy luminous, fresh, and sustainable environments where the harmony between light protection and natural ventilation merges with artisanal beauty.
