Hord Coplan Macht is the Landscape Architect responsible for the design of the memorial garden dedicated to members of the Loyola family who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The memorial garden is prominently located on the historical academic quadrangle of the Loyola campus, adjacent to its Memorial Chapel.
Designed as a contemplative space within a formal grove of Crape Myrtle trees, a bluestone terrace contains a fountain surrounded by lush garden plantings in front of a memorial wall of glass. Plants were chosen for their year round interest with an emphasis on a bloom time of September 11th.
HCM worked closely with the University President, Assistant Vice President for Campus Services, and the Alumni Class of 2003.
