Designed in association with the Lobjoy & Bouvier agency, located alongside the regional express railway line (RER) and positioned next to the Asnières-Bords de Seine designated developement aera (ZAC), this student residence project has 230 bedrooms distributed over five levels.
Physically separeted by an embankment with a railway line running along the top, the location of the building required that the project be clearly linked to the entire site.
This led Jean-Baptiste Pietri to design a repetitive programme formed by four plots interlinked by a seemingly random set of walkways and metal staircases. The division of th programme into four volumes allows the shared premises and workshops within the residence to be groupes together, breaking up the linearity of the site. The result is that the entire building becomes permeable while at the same time creating a setting that reflects the scale of the surroundings.
Clad by a metal skin with light control provided by sliding shutters and placed on a black base, the building gives the site a certain dynamic while clearly expressing its programme.
