PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Los Sueños Dorados (LSD) MasterPlan is a 25-hectare Eco-Tourism project (in-progress) located on the Pacific Coast of Jalisco, Mexico. It consists of 36 exclusive lots for Residences, Beach Club, Jungle Spa, Trekking and Hiking trails, local orchard, sculpture areas and Eco-Villas located with privileged ocean views.
The main asset of the project consist on designing a low impact holistic development that adapts to specific geographic conditions. The area developed only uses 12% of the total area assigned to develop, so most of the site is preserved, and at the same time encouraged to re-structure a low dry deciduous jungle into a mid humid jungle with appropriate insertion of new flora species, and water concentrations.
There were many challenges on the site, consisting mainly on solving urban infrastructure (roads design, water/sanitary installations and electric supply on a high slope geography). The area is located 5kms away from the nearest point of local infrastructure, so the strategy to solve water and energy situations is focused on alternative energies such as solar panels, ecologic treatments for sanitary sistems, wells, among others.
One of the conditions of the project was that 90% of the constructed areas should have ocean views to the private bay but without having more than 2 level constructions. That´s why, designated areas for each lot and infrastructure are placed strategically looking clear to the Pacific Ocean.
The project design will work with site materials and local construction systems such as mud, Parota tree wood, palm leaf roofs, rocks, reed, adobe walls, bamboo, among other materials.
“Los Sueños Dorados” development will be constructed in four stages: Urbanization, Beach Club, Housing development / walking areas and finally Spa / Eco-Villas. Each area is designed inspired in a dialog between the study of geometry around nature forms, Pre-Hispanic structures in Mexico, and local architecture.
The eco-tourism project has been executed in collaboration between studio SANTOSCREATIVOS, and architects Miguel Valverde (VTALLER) and Genaro De Silva.
