Lori is a public toilet for the city of Stockholm. The first unit is now up in the central park of Humlegården. The model was already a developed product called “Fenix”, but the city of Stockholm asked for a specific exterior design that would be unique and exclusive for Stockholm. The idea was to create a joyful and loveable pavilion like structure. A building to like and to hang around rather than to avoid until your forced to use it. We have chosen to rename it Lori after the colorful and sociable bird species.
The facades are cladded with 5mm steel plate panels with different surface qualities and integrated functions. The design concept encourages that different locations will call for different coloring and different added functions in the panels – a bench, a hook for the dog, a bicycle pump, information board etc.
In Humlegården every second panel is powder coated in dark green and polished, mirroring stainless steel. Additional functions are: drinking fountain for runners and passers-by and a bumblebees nest to offer a dwelling to the parks hardworking pollinators.
