The project comprises a museum and workshop facilities for Senora
Martina García Cruz, a Mexican artist, known for weaving specific
traditional patterns into handmade fabric. The different building
volumes are organized around an internal patio, which gives access to
the museum, the workshop, the museum shop and the cafeteria.
An investigation on geometrical forms and patterns used by its owner
resulted in the textural facade theme for the museum; commercial bricks
common for affordable construction in rural areas all over Mexico are
accommodated with an angle of 30 degrees in relation to the wall. By
shifting forth and back, they mold the same geometrical patterns used
for the arts and crafts of the fabric.
