After years of working in the Bay Area, a couple—along with their dog and chickens—relocated to a former horse ranch just outside Boulder, Colorado, seeking a place to live and pursue their creative work. The nine acre property included several ranch-related outbuildings, as well as a traditional barn that Síol was commissioned to adapt into a shared studio space. The main floor now houses a full machine and welding shop, while the upper level features a sewing and design studio. Western Red Cedar was selected for the exterior siding, chosen for its ability to weather and shift in tone over time. Skylights were added to the south-facing roof to bring daylight into the upper workroom, while an open trellis along the southern façade provides shaded outdoor space for summer afternoons. Large multi-fold doors allow fresh air to circulate during warmer months and are paired with a modern sliding barn door to shield the space during storms.
