Completed in June 2022, the project is a comprehensive cultural and sports complex offering an integration of venues for significant competitions, performing arts events and the national fitness campaign. Covering an area of 64,900㎡with four floors above the ground and two levels under, Longhua Cultural and Sports Center encompasses functions including gymnasium, natatorium, stadium, youth palace, supporting facilities for cultural and sports activities and a roof garden scrolling over the entire complex. The design features an urban garden in the sky that is ecologically organic, environmentally living-integrated, and operationally efficient. By implanting multiple types of spatial elements both in architecture and in landscape, the project encourages a rich variety of activity experiences, whilst establishing an overall image of lightness, softness and transparency which corresponds more to the connotation defining public buildings: being accessible and down-to-earth.
